STORY OF ANGEL'S BILLABONG
Thrilling Story of a Tourist
Aside from its natural beauty, Angel's Billabong is also known for the risk of sudden large waves. One real-life story involved a Malaysian tourist, Lee Yvonne, who was almost swept away by a wave while bathing in this pool. She was hit by rocks and had to receive eight stitches due to the incident. This experience serves as an important reminder for tourists to always stay alert, do prior research, and have travel insurance.
Apart from Lee, several similar incidents have even resulted in tourists being swept away by waves and losing their lives.
The Beauty and Uniqueness of Nature
Angel's Billabong is naturally formed from a dead-end river estuary, causing seawater to be trapped and create a clear pool with bluish-green gradients, resembling a natural infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. This basin is surrounded by unique coral rock walls and marine vegetation, creating a dramatic and Instagram-worthy view. The location is close to Broken Beach, so tourists usually visit both places in one trip. The name "Angel" is believed to come from the myth of angelic bathing, while "Billabong" is an Australian Aboriginal term meaning a dead river, describing a natural basin that only contains water periodically.
Activities and Tips for Visiting
